Bath Mencap Society is a local charity supporting all local people with learning disabilities, their families and carers, in Bath and the surrounding areas.
Bath Mencap is affiliated to, but not funded by, National Mencap. As a registered charity, running since 1964, we rely entirely on grants, donations and fundraising, as we receive no statutory funding.
We believe everyone with a learning disability should be able to access the same social and leisure activities as their peers, in a safe and relaxed environment, and live fulfilling lives where they are valued equally.
We are continually developing activities and services in response to our members’ needs, and take time to find out what our members would like to do. Throughout the year we organise events such as drumming circles, 10 pin bowling, and film nights. We also regularly host UPROAR! at Komedia – Bath’s first club night exclusively for adults with learning disabilities, their families, carers and friends.
Our goal is to continue to support all local people with learning disabilities and provide opportunities to make the most of their lives – to get a little more independence, to build friendships, and to take part in exciting activities and new experiences.
